“I cant say enough of how wonderful my experience has been with Freshwater Exotics! I look at three main areas when determining an on-line fish source; responsiveness/knowledge, shipping, and of course, the fish!
I have peppered Freshwater Exotics (FE) with numerous emails asking about this and that and they always responded very quickly to each of my emails. I was really taken aback by how prompt the responses were. Not only fast but the insights provided were invaluable. Questions like which plecos would be best suited for a discus tank and which were the most compatible with each other. Not only would they tell me the “what” but also the “why”.
The shipment was FedEx overnight for Friday delivery but the tracking info said it wasn’t to arrive till after the weekend. I called FedEx and they said the shipment was delayed due to weather on route. I sent an email to FE and they immediately responded saying they have been working with FedEx for the last 2 hours and the shipment was coming on Friday just delayed. FE sent me an email letting me know when the fish arrived even before the FedEx notification! Now for the physical packaging….a box, with a bag around a styrfoam box with paper and a still warm heat pack. Another bag with four individual triple bagged fish (an individual set of bags per fish). Two of the bag sets had additional semi ridged plastic inserts/reinforcement. None of the bags leaked. Big thumbs up on the shipping.
Now for the most important part, the fish. I ordered 4 plecos; blue phantom, royal, queen arabesque, and a monster orange cheeked pinecone. Each fish exceeded my expectations….no torn fins, active with no apparent stress, and full rounded bellies. Each fish was larger then I was expecting and the smaller ones ate right away, with the big guy waiting a day and now wont stop eating J. Incredibly beautiful fish.
